Foretold

December 1, 2025

In Luke 1:26–38, we read that an angel of the Lord appeared to a young woman named Mary and told her that God was about to do something incredible through her—He was going to bring a new King to His people, Israel.

It was an astounding message for anyone to receive, but especially for Mary, because it fulfilled promises and prophecies that had been spoken to God’s people hundreds of years earlier.

The moment that God had long foretold had finally come. It may have seemed like that day would never arrive, or that God had forgotten His people. But as the angel reminded Mary that night, “No word from God will ever fail.”

This Advent, we’re turning back to those ancient promises, to the words God gave through the prophets so that His people would be prepared: waiting, ready, and expectant for what He was going to do.

Even though centuries passed before those promises were fulfilled, God wanted His people to hold onto hope. In the midst of despair, He offered them peace. In darkness, He promised joy. And through it all, He revealed His steadfast love.

God offers the same to us today.

Join us for the four Sundays leading up to Christmas as together we explore the prophecies and promises that God foretold—and see how, in Jesus Christ, every one of them is fulfilled.
