Proverbs

Everyone wants to live a life that is fulfilling and fruitful, full of peace, joy and contentment: a life well lived. And God desires that for us as well. The problem is, the ways we often try to obtain this type of life rob us of these things instead. They promise us a path to the good life but turn out to be dead ends.

If we want to obtain God’s ends, we have to follow God’s way, and that involves gaining wisdom. At the heart of the Old Testament is a book known as Proverbs which records 915 short sayings meant to teach us the wisdom of God. The book covers a diversity of topics, from interpersonal relationships and money, to forgiveness and spirituality. But each Proverb is provided to help us grow wise, being able to discern God’s will and God’s ways from the ways of the world. Each is meant to help us know God and God’s truth.

Join us each week in worship this summer as we explore the Proverbs together.
