How Jesus Saves
September 1
If you take any sort of trip in America and look closely, you’ll be bound to notice signs that read simply, “Jesus saves”. From neon lights in major cities to spray-painted signs on barns out in the middle of nowhere, the phrase is common enough. But it leaves plenty of people wondering, “From what? And how?”
While “Jesus saves” remains the central claim of Christianity, the ensuing question—How?—demands attention. How exactly does a brutal and shameful crucifixion bring salvation? Why does the Bible call it good news, and why should we?
Over the history of the Church, theologians have spent a tremendous amount of time providing answers to these questions, but this fall we will unpack the meaning of Jesus’s life and death in simple terms, for everyday people like you and me, through a six-week worship series called How Jesus Saves.
The series follows a book by Joshua McNall, a professor of theology at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. In it, McNall uses Scripture, story, and real-life applications to unpack the meaning of Jesus’s life and death for everyday people in a way that is witty and engaging.
The ebook is free to borrow on Hoopla for Allen County Public Library card holders (https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/15557952) and paperback copies can be purchased individually on Amazon (https://a.co/d/31kUDgm).
We are also providing a study guide and videos by the author for any small groups interested in following along with the series, which will kick off September 8th. Leaders can reach out to seth@lifehousefw.com for more information.
Together, we’ll see how Jesus offers the benefits of salvation to the world. We hope you’ll join us!
